Merry Christmas & Winter News
I can hardly believe its December! Our first year as South West Coaching has proved to be immensely busy and satisfying. Coaching referrals are coming in at an increasing rate. In particular we have been doing a lot of work with managers in the public sector who are grappling with the problem of ‘doing more with less’ as the reality of cutbacks begins to grip.
We are doing more and more training. By the time you read this our video showing the GROW model in action should be ‘in the can’. We’ve been polishing the content with a scriptwriter, and considering the impact of different camera angles with a film editor. We’re in the studio later this week and the video will be available in the new year as part of our coaching skills training package.
We would like to thank you all for your custom and putting your trust in us this year, making it such a successful one. We continue to value your feedback so that we can keep improving the support we can offer. Keep letting us know what you need and we will do our best to either deliver ourselves or put you in touch with someone who can. “For everything else there's Tescos!”
Have a fantastic stress free, Christmas and New Year.
Best wishes, Dee Wilkinson & Associates
What we have been up to:-
POLICE ~ We were very pleased to be invited to make a presentation to a Police Superintendents Conference. This resulted in us being asked to provide telephone coaching for senior staff in a Police Force.
GP’s ~ We had some very enjoyable team coaching sessions with the GPs and other staff at an Exeter practice. These helped the team clarify their values and increase understanding of individual difference, to make communication and decision making more effective.
FAME ~ SWC had a stand at the recent Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Conference at Exeter Racecourse. We attracted a lot of interest, especially from organisations who want to bring our expertise in-house. This includes a famous name—we’ll tell you more in the next issue.!
TRAINING ~ In the last few months we have run courses on ‘Decision Making’ and ‘Developing Resilience’ for an NHS Trust, as well as continuing with our regular open ‘Coaching Skills for Managers’ course.
News from the Associates
Dee has successfully qualified as a Coach supervisor, and also become an accredited 360 degree feedback facilitator. A 360 gives managers a rich source of feedback – direct reports, colleagues, their managers – to increase self awareness and identify how they can raise their game.
Congratulations to Carolyn who is now a fully registered Assessor for Investors in People. Carolyn has also recently become an Affiliate of The University of Exeter Centre for Leadership.
Mark is becoming an accredited action learning facilitator with the Institute of Leadership and Management. In action learning a small group of people meet on a regular basis with a facilitator, to address their problems, challenges, and successes at work. Through the use of skilful questioning the group helps the individual explore the issue in depth, to identify his/her own solutions.
Why not contact South West Coaching to find out more about the rapid and striking results the above approaches can bring ?
